Foundation Spotlight: Redwood Empire Food Bank

By - May 23, 2023

Drysdale Community Foundation is funded by donations from individual agents with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Drysdale Properties. Our agents contribute a part of their commission as an expression of their personal commitment to the communities in which they live and serve. This year, $68,800 in grants were awarded to 16 non-profit charities.

One of the 16 non-profits that received a grant this year was Redwood Empire Food Bank, nominated by Sarah Carlson out of our Santa Rosa, CA office.

Since 1987, the Redwood Empire Food Bank has been feeding neighbors in need and leading the community to end hunger.

As the largest hunger-relief organization in our area, they work on the front lines of emergency food assistance in their region, playing a crucial role in helping individuals, families, seniors, and children. They distribute food through their own programs and their partner organizations in Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties.

They serve their communities through three initiatives. Every Child, Every Day includes four robust programs that address the nutritional needs of children, targeting both schools and seasonal meal gaps. Senior Security serves a monthly average of 13,000 low-income seniors healthy, fresh food across our five-county region. Neighborhood Hunger Network strives to improve the health and well-being of the community with food and nutrition education.
