Drysdale Community Foundation is funded by donations from individual agents with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Drysdale Properties. Our agents contribute a part of their commission as an expression of their personal commitment to the communities in which they live and serve. This year, $68,800 in grants were awarded to 16 non-profit charities.
One of the 16 non-profits that received a grant this year was Hijas del Campo, nominated by Rebecca Mendoza out of our Castro Valley, CA office.
Hijas del Campo is a Contra Costa County based non-profit organization that aims to help migrant and seasonal farm workers, along with their families, to improve their daily life, working conditions, health, and safety. Their goal is to ensure that every farm worker has access to basic necessities.
Hijas del Campo was born in a direct response to the unprecedented pandemic. They started their efforts by providing PPE and quickly evolved based on our families’ & communities’ needs. These efforts expanded to assist with everything from vaccination appointments & clinics, to food as well as bill and rental assistance for those who were/are unable to work due to Covid-19 and did not qualify for government stimulus or sick pay.
Hijas Del Campo also provides FREE one-on-one expert coaching and guidance in improving job skills, advising career paths, and providing college counseling information for campesinx families and students.
